The Moon

The moon reveals
   its face
with so many craters
   and pores
   and scars
from protecting
the life-flourishing planet
nearby
The moon reveals
its face
anyways
Usually the light side
but the dark

  is around the corner
and it looks down at us
A Behemoth
among inconsequential mortals
And the moon reveals
it’s craggy profile
and Galileo yelped
and was excommunicated
But the moon
cannot be objected
It remains
the silent watcher of the night
holding out judgment
and doubt
tight lipped
but eternally present
