catipillar

heaven knows how far gone
the swing sways
the school bus delayed
in this ungodly hour
how we cower
and bowing to wood and stone
on top of these pillar of bones
how I longed to see your face
one last time
simply beyond this pixelated mess we’ve made
did you have even an ounce realism
or am I lost here in cyberspace
in all the search and seizures
that tracked my history
was it lost in the silence?
all I wanted was you for myself
is that so selfish?
am I bound to sulk in this echo chamber?
until I molt into a catipillar?
nibbling, biting
never swallowing

Corrie (For the Chow’s)

A bundle of emptiness
stirring
an entrance into oblivion
a beginning/ an ending
tiny fists, kicking feet
two baby teeth
a voice in Ramah
Rachel weeping
future hopes retreating
kneeling by an unmarked grave
on a sunny, low-cut grass day
this void unrelenting
you should be
blossuming safety inside of me
not stinging, a swarm of bees
will you recognize me?
in heaven?
will you be a grown woman?
what was the sum of cellular life?
when it leaves us more empty?
lonely family
with a lost piglet
gone prematurely

blindfold bravery

your never ending web of nerve endings
spark, ignite, all-or-nothing

oversaturated
the chase of the thrill
the shiny red pill
a face replacing another face
moving through mirages of preemptive nostalgia
always meditating on the future as a fixed point
when it remains elusive as the concept of perfection
what about electability?
accountability?
or freedom of choice?
the act of reaching out
and communication
is fear
risk
folly
ultimately
blindfold bravery

reset

you can discover this new playing field
and escape this tedium
you ain’t no medium
blood’s in the water
and the sharks don’t bother
they crave attention
but receive no mention
stick apples in their mouths
and roast this rotisserie
in this misery
the flames lick up
as the rest sucked up
you’re nothing but a hound dog
never catching a rabbit
keep on running to the sun
and it kept on setting
and subsequently begetting

resting

don’t

don’t inspire
don’t require
don’t speak
or weep
snowballing whirlwind
be God sent
rewired and tired
tethered to expired
monetize personal lives
cripple me
hamper me
enable me
wake me
take this rock heart
knead it repeatedly
cleaved from the passions
at each drop
and rise
I see
with the rising bubbles
a little more
clarity

Ganges

dip a toe on the surface
let it carve ripples
spirit hovering over the waters
dividing darkness and light
how far-gone we went
all our reincarnated lives unspent
a shopping cart wheel left bent
heavily recalcitrant to window shopping
and the temporal tweeting birds
how we trap you in an urn
and we lift the lid for your ashes
to join with the Ganges river
i hope to see your freed smirk
catch the light of your eyes
in the last gleam of ten thousand sunsets
reflecting off the waters

Lightbulb, Wagon.

I.
a lightbulb lit
burned dimly from the shed ceiling
flickering and littering glimmer
barely penetrating through a crowd of gloom
how the static obfuscated our surroundings
these foibles knit us
but sometimes they betray us

II.
just a lone wagon
with a crooked wheel
rolling on the freeway
up and down a roller coaster
hope to find the way
back to  her owner

passover

I wish you would find
some elementary way
for death
to pass over my door
and I wouldn’t have to feign rigor mortis
a simple wave of forgiveness
be it a crown of thorns
on top of waves of plagues and pestilence
and the wail for the first born
please hear my voice and my prayers
as they float past the greenhouse effect

Friend

You’re not crazy
or weird

you are just my friend
is the antidote
that I needed
